Urgent Action Needed to Stop Cap and Trade Legislation

Steven F. Hotze, M.D.
June 25, 2009

Dear Fellow Conservative,

Please take action now to stop Cap and Trade legislation in DC. It is better described as Cap and Tax.

Cap and Trade legislation will be voted on tomorrow, June 26th, in the US Congress. We need to put as much pressure as possible on the Texas Democrats to vote NO on Cap & Tax. This bill will raise the average person’s utility costs by at least $1,600 annually. Gasoline prices will also be increased.

You can be sure that the goal of the liberals and environmentalists is to eliminate the use of all fossil fuels. The bill is said to lead to an eventual ban on all drilling in the US, even for natural gas. There will be no committee hearing in the bill. Nancy Pelosi and the socialistic Democrat leadership want to ram this bill through Congress without any significant discussion. The bill has not yet been made available to Congressmen. It is over 1,200 pages and will be voted on tomorrow.

Congressman Ted Poe estimates that this legislation will cost 2.6 million jobs! How can our country sustain such a blow in the current economy? This bill will not make a dent in so called “climate change” which is the ostensible reason for its proposal.

Congressman Poe recommends that we focus on Democrat Congressmen, especially those in oil producing states like Texas. Phone calls are best and it wouldn’t hurt to let them know that even though you may not be eligible to vote in their districts that you can vote with your wallet and support their opposition in the future. If this bill passes they will have plenty of opposition!

Finally, this bill is the first step in socialized medicine. The government needs the money generated from this massive tax increase to pay for a nationalized health system.

Please take time today and early tomorrow to call every Democrat congressmen in Texas and ask them to vote NO on Cap And Trade. There are only twelve Texas Democrat Congressmen.

Cap and Trade must be defeated!
